Therefore, let
us fear if, while a promise remains of entering His rest, any one of you may seem to have come short of it. Hebrews 4:1
For indeed we
have had good news preached to us, just as they also; but the word they heard did not profit them, because it was not united
by faith in those who heard it. He 4:2
Them who: He 3:7-19
And with whom
was He angry forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose
bodies fell in the wilderness? He 3:17
And to whom did
He swear that they would not enter into His rest, but ton those who were disobedient?
He 3:18 from Exodus 17:7 as mentioned in Psalm 95:7-11, (Numbers 14:1-35) So we see that they were not able
to enter because of unbelief. He 3:19
For we which
have believed to enter into rest as he said, AS I HAVE SWORN IN MY WRATH, THEY SHALL ENTER INTO MY REST (Psalm 95:11); although
the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
He 4:3
For He has said
somewhere concerning the seventh day: “And GOD RESTED FROM ALL HIS
WORKS – He 4:4 (Genesis 2:2 read it – who rested? From what? Anybody
worship?)
and again this
passage, “THEY SHALL ENTER INTO MY REST.” He 4:5
(Ps 95:11)
Therefore, since
it remains for some to enter it, and those who formerly had good news preached to them failed to enter because of disobedience
(belief) He 4:6
He again fixes
a certain day, “TO DAY, “ saying through David after so long a time just as has been said before, “TODAY
IF YOU HEAR HIS VOICE, DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS.” He 4:7 (Ps 95:7,8)
Today as in an
indeterminate period of time - until it is not today.
For if Joshua
had given them rest, He would not have spoken of another day after that. He 4:8
So there remains
a Sabbath (Sabbitismos) rest for the people of God.
He 4:9
For the one who
has entered His rest, has himself also rested from his work, as God did from His. He
4:10
As in:
By the seventh
day God completed His work which He had done; and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. Ge 2:2
Then God blessed
the seventh day, and sanctified it: because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made. Ge
2:3
Notice what else
is missing here that is stated every other day of creation:
Evening and morning
were the first day – Ge 1:5; evening and morning were the second day – Ge 1:8; evening and morning were the third
day – Ge 1:13; evening and morning were the fourth day – Ge 1:19; evening and morning were the fifth day 0 Ge
1:23; evening and morning were the sixth day – Ge 1:31
This is the account
of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made earth and heaven. Ge 2:4 (day as in an indeterminate period of time )
Therefore let
us be diligent to enter that rest, so that no one will fall through following the same example of disobedience (unbelief). He 4:11
Let us therefore
come boldly (confidently) unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
He 4:16 (KJV)
Come unto Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden,
and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle
and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. For My yoke is easy
and My burden is light.
Matthew 11:28-30
