What is resurrection?   Who is resurrected and when?

Online Bible

Day of Resurrection

But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. -
1 Corinthians 15:20

I am the resurrection and the life. - John 11:25

Lazarus come forth! - Jn 11:43

We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changes in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet.  For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.  For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. -

1 Co 15:51-58

For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep.  For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God.  And the dead in Christ will rise first. - 1 Thessalonians 4:15, 16

Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.  And thus we shall always be with the Lord. - 1Th 4:17

Do not marvel at this, for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth those who have done good, to resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation. -

Jn 5:28, 29

Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, some to shame and everlasting contempt. - Daniel 12:2

But you, go your way till the end; for you shall rest, and will arise to your inheritance at the end of the days. -  Dn 12:13

This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day.  And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will rise him up at the last day. -

Jn 6:38, 39

No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day. - Jn 6:44

How many resurrections?

the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many. - Mt 27:52, 53

Where did they go?

When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, and gave gifts to men. - Ephesians 4:8 also in Psalm 68:18  Who are the 24 Elders in Revelation 4:4; 5:8-14?  Could they be those who were raised at the time Christ was raised plus Moses, Enoch and Elijah.

And they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.  But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished.  This is the first resurrection.  Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection.  Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priest of God and Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years. -
