Revelation 21:9-12
The city seems to be laid out as a cube, since its length,
breadth, and height are equal. The cube was an ancient symbol of perfection. The Most Holy place in the Old Testament Tabernacle and in the temple were cubic in
design. The symmetrical measurements of the city are so vast- about 1400 miles
around and the wall is so thick (v. 27) over 200 feet that they almost surpass the imagination.As thick as the walls of Anew
Jerusalem are they are transparent as crystalline jasper. The vast city itself
(v. 16), especially the streets (v. 21) are also like clear glass, even though they are made of pure gold. The overall effects is that of an incredibly beautiful and transparent city, symbolizing never-ending glory
and purity.
Jasper is colorless
Sapphire is blue
Chalcedony is green or greenish blue
Emerald is bright green
Sardonyx has layers of red and white
Sardius is blood-red
Chrysolite is yellow
Beryl is blue or blue-green
Topaz is golden
Chrysoprase is apple-green
Jacinth is blue or blue-purple
Amethyst is purple or voilet1
Sounds like colors of the rainbow to me, more beautiful
than one can imagine.
