What is sin?
1 John 3:4 - Whoever sins is guilty of breaking God's law. because
sin is a breaking of the law. Good News Bible
What is the Law for? How about a mirror to see what we are
really like. Is anyone good enough?
Romans 3:10 - There is none righteous, not even one. NASB
Ro 3:23 - for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
NASB
What are the wages of sin?
Romans 6:23 - For the wages of sin is death but the free gift of
God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
1 Corinthians 15:56-58 The sting of death is sin, and the
power of sin is the law. Therefore, my beloved brethern, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the
Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord. NASB
The only perfect sacrifice is:
Hebrews 10:12 - He, having offered one sacrifice for sins for all
time, sat down at the right hand of God. NASB
Why do we need Jesus Christ?
Scripture says, "Therefore, just as through one man sin entered
into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned"(Romans 5:12)."One man" refers to
Adam who, along with Eve, broke the only command God had given them: "But you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge
of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die" (Genesis 2:17 NIV). They were driven away because of their disobedience.
Consequently, their intimacy with God was broken, and they faced physical death in their future. Because of sin, our mortal
bodies will die also (Romans 6:23)--there is no escape unless Jesus returns while we're still alive.
Spiritual death, which is the separation of a person from God, resulted
from the first sin. As Adam's descendants, we are born into that state--"dead in [our] trespasses and sins" (Ephesians 2:1),
and we remain spiritually dead unless we unite with God through faith in Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:22) By receiving the Savior,
we are reconciled to our heavenly Father, and we are guaranteed eternal life with Him. (John 3:15)
